Top Cell Phone Gifts For Christmas

November 19th, 2011

I think the Christmas shopping is going to be pretty easy this year because everyone in my family wants one of the latest smart phones. There are lots of awesome Android devices around this year along with Android e-readers, tablets and mp3 players. Android is the most widely used mobile platform so it’s difficult to go wrong.

The top Android mobile phones are brands such as Motorola, Sony and Samsung. I already own the Samsung Galaxy SII and the more I use it the more I love it. Internet access is fast and I’m only just beginning to understand and upload some of the latest apps that are available. Both my son and daughter are in college and I know that having the latest Android device will help them in many ways, especially for quickly looking up coursework and communicating with their friends.

I started shopping around for good deals on Android phones in early November. Unfortunately many of the prices haven’t budged for Christmas. I actually found my carrier offers the best prices this year and because I’ve been with them so long I got some killer deals.

If you’re buying a cell phone or mobile device for a loved this Christmas and they haven’t expressed a preference, take a few minutes to decide what they would possibly want in a new cell phone.

Older people may like a larger screen. Some folks use the built-in camera frequently, especially grandparents like me, and I looked for an eight megapixel camera that had good reviews. A 1.2 GHz dual core processor will give awesome performance, that’s what my Samsung device has and I have no complaints. I just love the touch screen on it as well. For kids that text a lot then a device that is responsive and easy to use will be a good choice.

Now the question comes what am I going to do with everybody’s old cell phones? None of them are particularly old and I could give them to a charity who will then distribute them to old folks or people who may be at risk. I could also go online and see if they’re worth selling for cash. As for the really old devices that are lying around in drawers and cupboards, I’m simply going to recycle them at the local electronics store.

I’m sure it won’t be long before the words “cell phone” go the way of the old manual typewriter, I must get into the habit of calling these things mobile devices and not cell phones!

Android Handphone For Kids

November 12th, 2011

Android Handphone for kids has become the latest topic among parents. From simple games to creative scribbles to educational story telling Apps, your kids are definitely spoilt for choice. We were lucky to be able to receive a free Motorola Android Handphone a month ago. Now that we have 4 handphones, we decided to let the kids have fun with this free phone and you can never imagine what they did with it.

Just on the first day of owning the new handset, the kids have downloaded, with our approval, more than 20 Android Apps which were meant for kids in a short time span of 10 minutes! Android Handphone are considered to be too sophisticated for some generation Y, yet they seemed like a piece of cake to the kids in generation Z.

Seriously, even my husband and I have some issues with how these Android Handphone works, but my elder son just needed less than ten minutes and found the solution. Amazing!

Ever since my sister bought the iPhone, the kids had been playing the Apps on her iPhone. We were rather surprise to find iPhone games in Android Market too. The kids downloaded Angry Birds, Pizza, Restaurant, PuzPenguin, Coin Frenzy, Tap Galaxy, Flick Fishing, Ninja Free, Tap Resort, Heads Will Roll, Ranch Rush, Tap Birds Extinct, Air Control Lite, aTilt 3D Labyrinth, Break The Blocks Lite, Disney Puzzle, Hangman, Find Differences, Paper Toss, Papijump, Ranging Thunder 2, excitebike and the list goes on. Among all, both my 5 and 7 year old boys love to play Ranging Thunder 2.

The above Android Apps are free and as you can tell, they are mainly games. Yet, there are many Android Handphone Apps that are really popular among the kids, which are educational. These Android Apps include LOL Libs, MouthOff, Mystic Maggie Story Lite, Monkey Kick Off, Toddler Lock, Smart Mini Kids, BrainGoal, Carddroid Math, See&Say, Dash & Ditto’s Playground and the list goes on.

Android Handphone for Kids can be a good mixture of fun, it can also be a good tracking gadget for parents. There are several very useful surveillance Android Apps when you search through the Android market. Top three, in my opinion, that are most useful for parents who wish to watch over their kids for safety reasons are namely: M-Spy, RL Watcher and IP Webcam

Downloading M-Spy from Android Market to your Android phone, allows you to set up a PIN number. Once the PIN number is set, your Android phone and your kids Android phone get linked up and hence is then able to act as an audio bug regardless where you are.

To me, RL Watcher is the ultimate surveillance Apps created thus far. RL Watcher allows your Android Handphone to remotely sense sound or movement. What about when you are far away from your kids and you would like to know how well the babysitter or your kids are doing at home? With IP Webcam Android Handphone App downloaded, your Android Handphone is transformed into a webcam immediately. With this, you can now place your Android phone at home to monitor your kids when you are off to work.

Whatever the purpose of it could be, getting an Android Handphone for your kids does have its benefits.
